On July 13, 2023, the FDA approved the first over-the-counter birth control pill, Opill, in the United States. This means that starting in early 2024, Opill will become available in many stores across the country; its selling locations have yet to be disclosed, but consumers can expect to find these pills at grocery stores, drugstores, and online in the near future. Fortunately, the approval of Opill will help millions of women and teenage girls obtain access to birth control and have more reproductive security. Although the exact price of Opill has not been released yet, it has been stated that this pill will be “accessible” and “affordable.”
