In the United States, cannabis is currently classified as an illegal substance, disregarding its medical uses and certain cases of recreational use. With this in mind, the Department of Health and Human Services has recently made plans to classify cannabis as a “less dangerous drug.” They have taken action to categorize cannabis as less harmful than cocaine or heroin; this might be the first step towards legalizing the drug, as noted by reports. Research and reports are pushing cannabis to be classified as a schedule three substance, which essentially groups substances with a low potential of psychological and physical dependence.
